After the eight to nine years of Greek fighting the Trojans they started to figure out that part of the reason that the Trojans were so indistructible is that they had cities around them helping them and supporting them. Once the Greeks found this out, instead of sending all their troops to Troy they would send them to the surrounding cities that were helping Troy and that helped to weaken the Trojan force. Troy said that they would not fall unless:
a) Pyrrhus, Achilles' son, fought in the war,
b) The bow and arrows of Hercules were used by the Greeks against the Trojans,
c) The remains of Pelops, the famous Eleian hero, were brought to Troy, and
d) The Palladium, a statue of Athena, was stolen from Troy.
I chose the Trojan War to study because it was an interesting piece of history to follow. It seemed like it would be a pointless war when I started and doing the research it still seems like the war was pointless cause it was ten years of just trying to fight for his ex-wife. This war includes the qualities of intelligence and power and I like how these qualities were used.
The walls of Troy were almost un breakable to the Spartans. They tried and tried again but couldnt get in. So Odysseus, with the aid of Athena, had a giant wooden horse built. With this horse, it would be hollowed out, he would have Spartan soldiers hide inside it. Then they had Sinon left out of the horse. When the Trojans came out to investigate they saw him there and he pretended to be mad at the Greeks. He assured to the Trojans that the horse was safe and it would bring luck to them. There was only two men in the Trojans that spoke against the horse and they were ignored. So the Trojans wheeled the horse into their walls they left it for the night. They saw the horse as almost a winning trophy. So they partied all night and almost all the Trojan warriors were drunk. At this point Sinon let the Greek soldiers out of the horse and tehy opened the gate for more warriors to come in and they fought of the Trojans when they were drunk.
The whole Trojan War started off slowly. So, it started off with Peleus and Thetis, the sea-goddess, had their wedding. Peleus and Thetis didn't invite Eris, the goddess of discord, and she was upset about that. So, she stormed into the banquet and threw a golden apple on the table in front of them. Eris stated that this apple belonged whomever was the fairest. Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite all reached for the apple. Zeus interupted and proclaimed the Paris, prince of Troy and at the time the most beautiful man alive, were to pick who got the apple. Hera promised him power, Athena promised wealth, and Aphrodite promised him a beautiful wife. He ended up picking Aphrodite and as promised she gave him a wife to be. His soon to be wife was Helen, wife of Menelaus, that lived in Sparta. So Paris packed up and set off for Sparta. His mom and others tried to persuade him to not go but he did not listen.

This is an example of the big war horse that was sent to the border of Troy.
